Develop Brand Marketing Strategies

Relationship between trade marks and brand
Relationship between trade marks and brand (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

To the "outside world", when you create your brand you create unlimited opportunities to leverage what you do into high payoff programs, information products, teleseminars, joint ventures, workshops and more.

On the inside, creating your brand gives you a powerful sense of identity, mission and alignment with your Unique Brilliance. You feel as if the heart and soul of who you are is now (finally!) in tune with building a successful business.

But what if you're struggling with trying to figure out what your brand really is? If you haven't been able to create a high-impact, high visibility brand, that tells me three vital elements are missing from your business-branding strategy.

Luckily, once you focus on, discover and integrate these three missing elements, your brand will "pop!" This branding strategy works equally well for internet branding and other brand marketing strategies.

If creating a strong, memorable, authentic brand has been eluding you, then take a look at each of these strategies for your answers. If you already have your brand, then you can use this list as a "brand checkup," or for help in rebranding.

Branding strategy #1: What results do your clients experience from your service?

In my Brand Authenticity workshops I ask participants to create a list of not just one or two results, but THIRTY! Why so many? Because it forces the (and you!) to dig deep and get really specific about the results you offer.

For example, let's say you're a life coach and you love to work with women on finding better balance in their lives. That's a tough sell (even though most women will wistfully acknowledge they need more balance!) Your list of thirty client results for may include: starting regular exercise programs, picking up long-wished for hobbies, joining book clubs, asking for a raise or setting clear boundaries with their kids about doing homework.

Now, isn't that a lot more tangible and sellable than quasi-results like "be more accepting,” “be happier,” or the ubiquitous (and sorry, nearly meaningless) "put themselves first for a change?”

My coaching challenge to you: You don't need to wait for my next Brand Authenticity workshop. You can create this list for yourself starting now. Just pull out a piece of paper and start listing each and every detailed result you help your clients achieve.

Branding strategy #2: What problems does your service solve?

Like the prior list, this one too needs to be more than just an answer or two. Again, aim for thirty problems your service helps your clients solve. It's okay if some of your answers overlap with your prior list – just be sure you are detailed and specific in what you list.

Branding strategy #3: What are you a stand for, no matter what?

Great brands have power and punch to them. For example, Maureen, one of my Brand Authenticity clients created the brand "Real Relationships." Another client, Jack, created "The Christian Business Profit." (I love the play on words!)

Both Maureen and Jack are clear on what they stand for and that shows up in their powerful, compelling brand names. So, what are YOU a stand for, no matter what? The "no matter what" part matters because it will shift you out of complacency or fear. It will move you into that courageous, vibrant, determined place where your passion breathes fire and life into your words.

So whether you are internet branding, rebranding or looking at branding strategies for the first time, your powerful, authentic brand is just waiting to be discovered! So what are you waiting for?

How To Make Money Online via Blogging

Being an ambitious entrepreneurial-orientated guy (currently involved in the property business and also with a great passion about blogging and internet marketing), I am now enthusiastically looking to get the most out of blogging, RSS and kindred types of the available modern internet marketing strategies and techniques in order to effectively grow and profit from any business I might be involved in or alternatively the one I would like to start.

As you may have heard, blogs are a hot topic these days. A blog (which is short form for Web log) is nothing more than a public journal which is published online and can often represent the personality of the author or the Web site. Why are blogs one of the hottest trends today? They represent such tremendous potential for fresh original content being added to the Web and updated daily to the Web. Search engine spiders absolutely love indexing blogs and many blogs are being read on a daily and sometimes even on an hourly basis by a wide range of readership.

From a technical point of view, search engines love blogs because there are now literally millions of people writing fresh content, at least daily, sometimes several times a day. Millions of people all sharing their "points of view" on a variety of topics including philosophy on life, politics, health, travel, religion, business, entertainment and much more.

If you are not yet familiar with social media and/or Web 2.0, you can use this article as a start-up to get yourself up to speed.

Join the Web 2.0 Revolution! How Your Business Can Benefit from Hands-On Internet

So you’ve heard of Web 2.0, but you’re not sure what it is. Do you need to install it? Nope. Web 2.0 is what you’re using right now to read this blog. It’s the interactive factor of today’s internet. (I say this as if I sound like I know what I’m talking about. I’m actually still learning!).

Remember when the internet was a place you sent the occasional email or tried to look up information (only to be disappointed with the results)? It’s hard to remember those times, but the ability to find virtually anything we need online is only a recent phenomenon. I know that even just three years ago, I probably could not have run an internet-based company! People would have thought I was crazy to market to people across the country!

Today, the internet is completely interactive. You participate in chats and forums, you blog, and you get to decide what news stories are important to readers. It’s been called the “democratization of media.” It’s an exciting time! And what better time to implement these interactive tools to promote your small business?

Where in the past, your marketing efforts might have consisted of a television commercial, radio spot, or billboard, today’s technology lovers and entrepreneurs are putting stock in online advertising, which is more affordable and more effective.

Enough said. You’re sold. But what can you do right now to join the Web 2.0 revolution and market your company online?

Blogging

1. Start a blog. I’m not just saying this because I have a blog. Well, actually, I am. I wasn’t sold on blogging until my husband started this blog and I saw that people were actually reading it! I realized that today’s media offers something for everything, and ever piece of content has an audience. With an unlimited potential of readers, why wouldn’t you start a blog for your company?

The blog should relate to your business. I have a marketing company, Social Network Asia, so my blog relates to marketing. Make it enough to entice the reader to learn more about your company (you’re enticed right now, right??) and to build trust in your skills. It’s about building relationships. The next time a reader needs the product or service you provide, you can bet they’ll think of you first. If you want more information about the act of writing as a marketing strategy, you can check my previous post.

Press Releases

2. Use press releases effectively. Note that I did not say “blast out press releases helter skelter.” I personally don’t believe in throwing out press releases just to boost your ratings. In fact, you won’t find a press release about Egg anywhere out there. That’s because I haven’t had any newsworthy events I feel should be announced.

When you do have something newsworthy (your grand opening, launch of your website, major client secured), don’t be afraid to toot your own horn. And do it right. There are press release services that send your release to hundreds of websites, both well-known news sites like Yahoo! and Google, and smaller niche websites and publications in your genre.

What this does is not only get you in front of hundreds of pairs of eyes, but also boosts your SEO. Try it for yourself. When you distribute a press release, do a search for your company name on Google. I guarantee you’ll get multiple listings just from all the places that published your press release. The higher you are in your search engine results ranking, the more people will find your website.

3. Get Dugg. Huh? Digg.com and del.icio.us are just two of the social bookmarking websites available. What they do is allow readers to decide the relevance of articles, news, press releases and blog posts. Say MSNBC.com has the cover story on Saddam Hussein, and waaay, buried in the back is an article on the Postal Service changing their fee structure (see my previous post). Now, I realize that Saddam is front page news, but I think this Postal Service article is a big deal too, especially for marketers.

There is a little icon at the end of the article that says “Digg it” and another that says “del.icio.us.” By clicking on these icons, I have essentially voted for these articles to move up in importance. The more people that click on your press release or blog, the more people see it, and then more people click on it. You get the picture. It helps you gain more viewers who will end up on your website, buying your products or services.

You can even Digg your own articles so that they make it into Digg’s list!
Newsletters

4. E-Newsletter. While your electronic newsletter isn’t exactly online, it’s a great place to give access to all your online components. You have a newsletter, right? You’re sending it out every month to your contacts, right???

In your newsletter, on the sidebars or at the bottom, include links to your website and blog. Give teasers for your most recent entries on your blog: “Giving Away Free Information as a Marketing Strategy. Click here to read this blog entry.” If you have a recent press release, include a link to it. If you have coverage in local media (i.e. news program or radio) include a link to that. Give your newsletter audience every opportunity to connect with you.
Leverage Other People’s Eyeballs

5. Advertise. Guess what? You don’t have to advertise on the big players’ websites. It might not even be effective for you. There is a niche group in every genre you can think of (work at home moms, cat lovers, people who love Barbara Mandrell and toast). Find your target market online and advertise on smaller, more targeted websites. It’s much cheaper, and you’ll find that communities are very supportive of “their own.” So take the time to become part of online communities in your market, and you’ll see a big payoff.

Advertising on these sites can come in the form of banner ads, text ads, or mention of your product in a blog. Get creative and find your own ways to get your product name out there. As you can see, the sky’s the limit when it comes to marketing your company online. The great thing is there’s usually not a long-term commitment, so you can quickly pull out of any channels that aren’t beneficial for your company!

Measuring Social Media Company ROI

Return on investment after training and resour...

There are number of factors to measure the ROI of a company. These would be metrics and measurements that can contribute to a company's longevity. These measurement includes but not limited to: reach (# of website visits, relay and #post), relevance (engagement and authority) and outcomes. The outcome is the ROI that can result in exposure, as Jack mentioned, customers satisfaction, increase in leads and sales.

A business that wants to track their ROI from social media should start with a baseline of your company's current growth, website visitors, online transactions, telephone inquiries, etc. If you don't have this information, start tracking it.

Next, create an activity timeline that tracks all new social media projects: blog launches, new Twitter campaigns, press releases, etc.,

By stacking these timelines on top of one another, your company can create a picture of which efforts are working, and which ones aren't. Over several months, you can graph your progress and watch for correlations between events, such as certain blog articles equaling more customer calls, or positive online mentions and a jump in site visitors.

Keep in mind, though, that another part of a good social media campaign and tracking ROI is having a goal in mind when you start so you know where you want to be. Your goal could be monetary return (more sales), or non-monetary (brand awareness, increase in social media mentions). It's not too late to start tracking your progress so your business will know how your social media efforts are affecting your company.

With social media being a prominent mode to gain popularity, companies streamline their efforts to build an entire presence through twitter, facebook & other popular social media outlets. Talking about ROI, it is indispensable to form parameters before measuring the profits for a company. Hence, business and marketing professionals who embark on the journey of social media should define what they want to achieve from using social media marketing.

Twitter is used far and wide to promote small and big businesses today. Although believed to be effective, it cannot serve the purpose you expect it to perform without the proper techniques. Listed below are some Twitter marketing tips which can help make your tweets more convertible to profits.

Always Lend A Helping Hand - This is the same as sharing quality content to your followers. Companies are often aggressive in posting links to webmercials which often offer products or services. If you want loyal customers coming your way, provide links to content that will address the issues that concern them at the moment. Through this, you can be assured they will be hungry for more information from you. Use the right words to make your tweets resemble your personality or the brand you are promoting.

Optimize Keyword Use - One of the Twitter marketing tips often left unnoticed is keyword placing. It is the same with the procedures with full-length content. From your keyword list, select ones which would sound perfect for your posts. Make the most out of your 140 characters. Google is now giving high regard to the content of social media accounts since more and more people are turning to them as source of information.

Build Connections - Gaining many followers is not enough. Starting with a few which you can engage in a meaningful conversation is more important. With that, you can fetch insights about your brand. Observe the concept of give and take. Take time to search for those who talk about your business. Besides thanking them, return the favor by re-tweeting their posts. Should you come across questions related to your niche, provide a ready answer.

Utilize Available Tools - Hootsuite and Summify are two of the best tools used in effective Twitter marketing strategies these days. They are both great in categorizing different tweets and trending topics. They make it easy for you to track tweets related to your niche. They can also lead you to questions which you may answer with tips that showcase the benefits of using your products or services.

Tweet About Your Blog Posts - This step is as easy as inserting the link to your new blog post in your tweet. Do this in a regular basis and you will be surprised to see a generous amount of traffic flowing to your blog or website. If you are looking for a reliable lead generation program through social media, this is one procedure which you must not miss.

Sync Your Twitter Account With Your Facebook And LinkedIn Accounts - This will make your tweets more relevant to your business. As you share content simultaneously across networks, you are able to save time and effort. More so, you will get easy updates with the Twitter activities and posts of your clients.

These are just a few of the Twitter marketing tips which you can take advantage of for successful advertising. As advancements continue to rise, a few more procedures may be added to this list.

Viral Marketing Improves Online Business Efficiency

Viral marketing is a promotional strategy that has been in use for quite some time and has transitioned over onto the internet quite successfully. The strength behind this particular advertising technique is in its ability to help businesses spread their marketing message a whole lot faster and with less effort. In this way it helps to not only boost your exposure but also your ability to work much more efficiently as well!

Here are 3 significant ways in which any online business can expect to benefit by using this particular promotional strategy.

Time Efficient

Typically this advertising technique involves little more than sharing your marketing message with a relatively smaller crowd who then spread the word. Working online offers the advantage in many cases of automating your efforts even further resulting in greater savings of time! As any entrepreneur will tell you time is money and therefore a precious commodity that should be used wisely!

Cost Efficient

In most cases advertising in a viral manner online involves distributing free reports or leaving business links at social site, forums, bookmarking sites or even blogging. In every case there is little or no out of pocket expenses making this advertising technique very cost efficient!

Energy Efficient

By leveraging the efforts of others you are able to channel the energy you have saved into other areas of your business. As an entrepreneur this is extremely important since most functions and/or business tasks are left up to you to complete. Avoiding fatigue in this way helps you maintain a mental alertness that can be use in more constructive and creative ways. Your mistakes will be minimized and your ability to produce more and stay motivated will benefit as well!

Remember when fatigue does set in your ambition will naturally decrease and as mentioned above and you will be more prone to making mistakes. What happens here is that not only do your miscues create business inefficiencies but they also require more time and effort later on to fix!

The biggest advantage viral marketing offers a business or person is its ability to leverage the efforts of others to spread your marketing message. When this advertising technique is put to use online the benefits it offers magnify due to the automation and global audience the internet can supply! The single biggest advantage this promotional strategy offers is the increase efficiencies a business can experience as reviewed above. It therefore stands to reason that if you can increase efficiency you will also boost productivity thereby leading to greater sales and profits. With that said there seems to be little reason as to why you would not want to include this very effective promotional strategy into your online marketing mix!

Facebook: A Marketing Channel Strategies

Facebook Marketing (photo credit: Social Network Asia)
There are various ways to market your product online and social marketing is just one of those. In comparison with other strategies such as article marketing how heavy do you use facebook as one of your strategies to market a product?

Facebook can be a lucrative internet marketing strategy if used effectively. You can't just use one strategy though, and you have to know that Facebook is more of a branding opportunity, and most successful businesses will not use it to sell products directly, but indirectly (if that makes sense).

Why?

Because building a successful online business isn't about using one channel, it's about using multiple internet marketing strategies together. Lately there is so much hype about using Facebook to market products online. This is completely wrong. People are on Facebook to connect with people, not businesses.

The way people use the internet is much different than old school brick and mortar business. It's not selling to users, it's users having the option to make there own decisions...just a click away.

You need to look at marketing on Facebook as permission based and 99.99% of people will not buy products or services if they "like" your business, or friend request you. Top internet marketers will agree that successful online business is not about getting, it's about giving. That principle even holds more true to Facebook marketing. This is a direct channel to provide value to potential customers, free reports, thoughtful information, humorous tidbits of information sometimes seemingly unrelated to your business.

If potential customers see you as not selling, there more likely to look into what you do, consequently resulting in more traffic and more business.
