Do Twitter marketing really a good strategy to grow your business?

As one of many home based business entrepreneurs, I do this social media marketing to boos my sales. Twitter as one of the social media frontrunner, became as an avenue for business owners and solo entrepreneurs to advertise and to reach potential customers via the internet. It became one of the mainstreams when it comes to social media marketing.

The fact that Twitter rank as one of the ten-most-visited websites worldwide by Alexa’s web traffic analysis means a great opportunity to all business owners to promote their products and/or services on this platform.

Here are some tips on how to have an effective Twitter markting:

1. Know the basics and lingoes of Twitter.

2. Optimize your Twitter Bio.

Make sure to fill up all the required fields to set-up your twitter page. Make it detailed. Put your website URL to your profile to drive traffic to your website. This will also allow people to find out more about your business/company.

3. Schedule your tweets and interact.

If you’re a busy person, and don’t have a budget to hire a social media assistant, “automating tweets” is the best solution to keep your page active.

4. Build Active Followers.

There are a lot of sites nowadays that can give you tons of followers in a breeze such as twellow and twiends but twitter marketing is not just about following and having millions of dormant followers. It is about “interaction”.

In using twitter for your social media campaign, “interaction” is a must. The challenge is to give your audience reason to follow you back and engage in conversation with you. In conversing with your audience, you should talk about things that interest them aside from talking about your business.

Facebook today announced that its acquisition of Instagram is complete. The mobile photo sharing network will continue to operate under the Instagram brand, but its 16 employees will join the team in Menlo Park, California, and Facebook will support the app with infrastructure and engineers.

More than 5 billion photos have been shared by people using Instagram, which now becomes part of a social network that has nearly 1 billion members. The cash-plus-stock deal would have added another "billion" to that sentence if it had closed in April, but because Facebook's stock price tanked after the company went public, Instagram now joins the social network for a mere $741 million instead of $1 billion.

In a blog post announcing that the deal had officially closed Thursday, Instagram said its team will be moving from San Francisco to Facebook headquarters in Menlo Park.

According to Associated Press, the deal closed on Friday August 31, at which point Facebook's share price was US$18.06. This places the value of the deal at US$715.38 million. After trading resumed on Tuesday August 4 (as August 3 was a public holiday in the US), Facebook closed at its lowest point ever, at US$17.73 per share.

Instagram's team, which recently celebrated the 5 billionth photo shared through its photo app, will now move to Facebook's offices. It reassured its followers on its blog today that the "Instagram app and its features will stay the same one you know and love."

There's a lot of fuss surrounding social media these days. If you still haven't jumped on the bandwagon and aren't sure why so many people are making such a big deal about it, here are 14 benefits of social media for your business and you from Success magazine.

For Business:

Establish a brand and raise awareness. Since the majority of the population is already visiting social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, getting your brand name all over those networks can help let people know that you're around. If you have yet to create a company image online, social networks are the place to do it. Create a fun YouTube video that entertains and informs. Funny videos tend to make their way around the Internet a lot faster than any other kind, so when making a video, keep in mind that you want it to be interesting enough for your target audience to want to share. Using Facebook and Twitter to create a fun online community that your customers will want to visit will increase brand loyalty and drive traffic to your Website, allowing you the chance to make more online sales.

Spy on the competition. Follow your competitors on Twitter and Facebook and you’ll be able to see what they have up their sleeve. Just make sure to offer a better deal than whatever they have going on.

Pitch products in a more human, interactive way. Since people visit social media sites to get personal rather than be bombarded with ads, discuss your business in a fun way and engage your customers with questions. Ask their opinions and entice them to respond back. This way you’re making a valuable connection that will help increase your number of return customers.
